ISOVOLTAIC expands activities in Asia with subsidiary in China

  • Formation of Changzhou Isovoltaic Composite Materials Co., Ltd.
  • Strengthening of presence in the most significant photovoltaic market

(Lebring, 23 December 2010) ISOVOLTAIC AG with its headquarters in Lebring/Austria announced that it is expanding its presence in China, the most significant market for the production of photovoltaic modules, by forming its own wholly-owned subsidiary. Changzhou Isovoltaic Composite Materials Co., Ltd. (CICM) was formed at the beginning of December on the Changzhou site.

Thomas Rossegger, CEO of ISOVOLTAIC AG said, "We decided to establish our own subsidiary in China so that we could increase the level of service for our Asian customers and offer customised solutions locally." The established ICOSOLAR® backsheets represent pioneering technologies for the protection of solar cells and are developed and manufactured at two highly efficient sites in Austria. The main task of the site in Changzhou will be to maintain direct customer contact and to develop the service network in China.

ISOVOLTAIC which was only established this year out of the photovoltaic business unit of Isovolta AG has been able to gain market shares in 2010, particularly in growth markets such as Asia. As a large proportion of photovoltaic modules are produced in Asia, strengthening the Chinese location is an important step towards developing international activities in the global growth market of photovoltaics.

ISOVOLTAIC AG is the global market and technology leader in the development and production of backsheets for photovoltaic modules. The company was established in 2010 out of the photovoltaic business unit of Isovolta AG and as a result has 25 years of experience in the production of high-quality composite protective sheets for solar cells. The established ICOSOLAR® backsheets and other pioneering film technologies are extremely tough and durable. They provide long-term protection for solar cells against mechanical and chemical influences and reliably ensure that sunlight can be efficiently converted into usable energy over a long period of time. The technology leadership of ISOVOLTAIC is based on in-depth research and development activities which focus on the market and the needs of its customers.
ISOVOLTAIC AG has its headquarters in Lebring, Austria. The company currently employs a workforce of more than 240 at 3 sites in Lebring/Austria, Eisenstadt/Austria and Changzhou/China. More information may be found at
